Folks who stopped by Fine Fettle today (either online or in-store) may have noticed a couple of pretty big changes.

First, Fine Fettle is now offering “STATE” live resin vapes by Botanical Sciences. The “STATE” vapes were the first (and still the only) live resin option available in Georgia since flower and vape sales first began this past July 1st.

If you’re a fan of Fine Fettle’s Aura vapes (like we are) don’t worry, they’re still available. This appears to be the dispensary expanding their offerings giving patients more choices.

We’re really digging the “STATE” live resin “Berry White” vape that we’ve been trying, but we wish it didn’t come at such a steep price. $90 per gram is pricy. That naturally leads us to the question: is live resin “worth it” considering the price difference?

In an effort to answer that question, let’s talk about the difference between distillate and live resin. Basically, they’re entirely different ways to create vape oil.

Distillate starts with dried and cured cannabis. Producers extract the crude oil from the plant, usually by washing the flower with a solvent that pulls out cannabinoids, terpenes, lipids, chlorophyll, waxes, etc. into a crude oil, then they will mix the crude oil with cold ethanol to filter out fats and waxes, then producers will run it through a high‑heat distillation process that isolates cannabinoids by boiling off various compounds at different temperatures. The result is a clear, viscous oil that often tests above 90 percent THC. Terpenes are removed during distillation, so distillates often have botanical-derived or cannabis-derived terpenes added back in.

Live resin, on the other hand, begins with fresh cannabis flower that is flash‑frozen immediately after harvest. Freezing preserves the terpene profile that would normally evaporate or change during drying and curing. Extractors then run the frozen material through a low‑temperature hydrocarbon wash to keep those delicate terpenes intact. The end result is a sauce-like concentrate with bold, strain-true aroma and flavor. The THC levels can still be high, but can be a lower than distillate because the extract contains more of the plant’s natural compounds.

So is it worth it? Will we continue to pay more for live resin over distillate? Yeah… admittedly we will… because we really do prefer the live resin that much more. But we are really looking forward to the prices more mature medical cannabis markets are currently seeing.

Fine Fettle’s second big change today was the release of their updated app. It’s available in both the Android and Apple app stores. Do you already have a Fine Fettle digital account? Then have no fear. Your login credentials will still work.

According to Fine Fettle, the new app is expected to make it easier for patients to shop and place orders online. We appreciate the upgraded experience, but we’re absolutely loving the custom artwork they’ve done for each dispensary location. They’re super cute and fit in well with the fun, slightly off-beat, and super friendly corporate personality Fine Fettle has curated. See artwork in screenshot below:
